Quality Content Is Key When It Comes To Google’s Search Rankings.
Every digital marketer is eager to understand better how Google’s algorithm works. There is a frequent debate in the SEO community around quality content vs. how much content exists on a site – and many other factors that affect where a site ranks in Google’s search results page.
In a recent tweet, Gary Illyes from Google announced that “there’s more to ranking than just quality.” Mysteriously, he also mentioned that Google relies upon hundreds of different bits of information to serve users the most relevant content based on their search. In some cases, other ranking signals – backlinking, for instance – can nudge a website filled with lower quality content to a higher-ranking site in the Google search results. In some cases, this might mean that a user is given sites with the highest quality – and in other cases, they’ll get lower quality sites, but much faster.
As I’ve written about in the past, Google is continuously changing its algorithm – and there are never-ending ways for personalized results to crop up in a user’s Google search given the vast data Google has on individuals’ browsing history.
